What happens when India’s electric vehicle revolution meets the growing demand for clean city transportation? A major partnership between TVS Motor Company and startup OOR Cabs is showing us the answer. According to the Economic Times, these two companies have joined forces to put 500 electric three-wheelers on Tamil Nadu’s roads during the 2025-26 financial year.

Understanding This Business Partnership

This collaboration represents something much bigger than just selling vehicles. TVS Motor Company, a well-established manufacturer, is betting on the future by partnering with OOR Cabs, a newer company focused on ride-sharing services. The partnership works like this: TVS will provide their King EV MAX electric three-wheelers, while OOR Cabs will use these vehicles to offer passenger rides within cities.

Rajat Gupta from TVS Motor Company explained their excitement about accelerating green mobility in India, as reported by the Economic Times. Meanwhile, Maria Issac, who leads OOR Cabs, emphasized their mission to provide seamless and sustainable transportation. This means passengers will get reliable rides while helping the environment.

Breaking Down the Electric Vehicle Technology

The TVS King EV MAX might sound technically complicated, but let’s make it simple to understand. According to the Economic Times, it uses a 51.2V lithium-ion battery with 9.2 kWh capacity – think of this as a very powerful rechargeable battery that stores enough energy to travel 179 kilometers on a single charge.

The vehicle’s motor, called a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, produces 11kW of peak power and 40Nm of torque, as reported by TVSMotor.com. In everyday terms, this means the vehicle has enough power to carry passengers smoothly through city traffic. India Today reports that charging is surprisingly fast – you can charge the battery to 80% in just 2 hours and 15 minutes, or completely full in 3.5 hours.

Perhaps most interesting is the smart technology inside. According to EVreporter.com, the vehicle includes TVS SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity, which connects to your smartphone for real-time navigation and vehicle diagnostics. This means drivers can track their vehicle’s health and find the best routes easily.

Strategic Geographic Expansion and Social Impact

The partnership is starting in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) with plans to expand to Madurai and Coimbatore. This strategy focuses on Tamil Nadu’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, which are smaller than major metros but still need good transportation. OOR Cabs plans to add 20-30 electric vehicles monthly, creating opportunities for both male and female drivers in these communities.

This initiative supports Tamil Nadu’s clean mobility transformation goals while promoting sustainable livelihoods. It means cleaner air for cities and income opportunities for drivers.

This partnership shows how India’s transportation future is taking shape through collaboration between established manufacturers and innovative startups. As more electric vehicles hit the roads, you’ll likely see cleaner, quieter, and more efficient city travel becoming the new normal.
